IT Network Administrator Responsibilities
  • Install, configure, and maintain network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points).
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and Active Directory.
  • Configure and maintain VPNs and network security.
  • Perform system backups and disaster recovery planning.
  • Apply security patches and firmware updates.
  • Document network infrastructure and procedures.
  • Support users with network-related issues.

Common Skills:
  • TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP.
  • Routing and switching (Cisco, Juniper, Aruba, etc.).
  • Windows Server and Linux administration.
  • Active Directory and Group Policy.
  • VMware or Hyper-V virtualization.
  • Firewalls (Fortinet, Palo Alto, Cisco ASA).
  • Network monitoring tools (PRTG, SolarWinds, Nagios).
  • PowerShell or Bash scripting.
  • Microsoft 365 and Azure fundamentals.

Certifications That Help:
  • CompTIA Network+.

Clearance:
